A New Culinary Destination in Chapel Allerton. The Next Chapter of The Crossing Begins Here.

The Crossing Indian Bistro is proud to open its newest home in Chapel Allerton, Leeds — a neighbourhood celebrated for its independent spirit, vibrant dining culture, and sense of community. Our arrival marks more than the opening of a new restaurant; it is the beginning of another chapter in a journey dedicated to sharing India’s remarkable culinary heritage. Led by Chef Ankur, whose thoughtful approach honours the depth and diversity of India’s regional cuisines, guests are invited to discover authentic flavours, timeless recipes, and contemporary craftsmanship in a space where every detail reflects warmth, hospitality, and the joy of bringing people together.

From Paris, to the French Riviera, to Leeds

Our story began in 2023 at the iconic Galeries Lafayette Le Gourmet in Paris, where The Crossing became the first Indian restaurant to open within the historic department store. From there, our journey continued to the Mediterranean shores of Nice, where Indian cuisine found a new expression overlooking the Côte d’Azur. Today, that journey reaches Leeds. Each destination has become another crossing point — connecting cultures, people, and traditions while remaining rooted in the same philosophy: celebrating India’s diverse regional cuisines with authenticity, thoughtful craftsmanship, and genuine hospitality.

Becoming Part of Britain's Indian Culinary Story

Few countries have embraced Indian cuisine as deeply as the United Kingdom. For generations, Indian restaurants have shaped neighbourhoods, introduced regional traditions, and become part of everyday British life. At The Crossing Indian Bistro, we are honoured to contribute to that rich legacy with a perspective inspired by India’s railway journeys — celebrating recipes that travelled across regions, stories passed between generations, and ingredients that reflect the country’s extraordinary diversity. As we become part of the fabric of Leeds, we look forward to offering guests an experience that feels both familiar and full of discovery, where heritage and contemporary dining meet around every table.

Indian Hospitality Through Railway Culture
